BE STILL AND KNOW [Advent: Day 6]
“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. Selah (Psalm 46:10-11 ESV)
When was the last time you allowed for stillness in your life? I have a tendency to busy myself with tasks instead of coming before the Lord. I tend to let worry overtake me instead of having confidence that Jesus Christ is Lord and that He is in control.
It is a command that we rest and so important for having peace and balance in our lives. In our rest we can hear the voice of God, coming before Him in honesty and allow Him to change us and make our paths straight. It is in rest that we can grasp onto His hope and strength.
Advent is a time of waiting with joyful anticipation on Christ, our one true hope. Take some time this weekend to rest and reflect on what the birth of Christ means in our lives. Be still and allow yourself to come before God with honesty and a pure heart. Thank Him for His coming and His sacrifice for us. Rest in His presence and allow his peace to guide your heart and your thoughts.
Father we thank you that we can come before you and find rest. We ask forgiveness for the times we busy ourselves with the trivial things in life. We seek you especially during this season of advent and we celebrate your coming and the hope you bring. We thank you that you are our savior and that in you alone we find our peace. AMEN!
