The King Is Among Us [Advent: Day 4]

Screen Shot 2016-04-02 at 12.46.09 AM

The King is among us
And His glory surrounds us
And His fire is falling as we sing
The Savior is for us
And His love is victorious
And revival is rising in His name

I love music. And I’m not ashamed to say that I love good worship music. I look at it as repeating God’s truth over and over in a really beautiful way. This song, “The King Is Among Us” by Elevation Worship couldn’t be more fitting for advent.

The King is among us. That deserves an AMEN.

Advent is a time of waiting with joyful anticipation on Christ, our one true hope. Belief in Christ is a beautiful act of faith. It is placing our hope in something bigger that ourselves. It is saying that His promises are true even when we will never fully understand this side of heaven.

We know the rest of the story. The King is indeed among us, and His glory is all we need.

This journey through the days of advent has been so special, and it’s only day 4. I’m such a believer in the hope of Christ that I tattooed an anchor on my arm to remind me of my favorite verse in the Bible, “This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain into God’s inner sanctuary.” (Hebrews 6:19)

The book of Hebrews is a special one. It is in the New Testament and it’s whole focus is to tie the Old Testament to the New Testament. The law was shattered the day Jesus was born. His whole life had been prophesied and came to pass. One man made an unspeakable sacrifice for you and for me. He was born, walked this earth a sinless man, and died a sacrificial death. But we know that is not the end of the story. He rose from the grave.

The King Is Among Us.

This is the best gift we could ever receive. We have access to a Savior who reigns in heaven. Really meditate on this. Be mindful about it as you walk through your day, and especially aware as we celebrate Christmas. I love the tradition of putting up lights. There is a peace about a room that is lit solely with a Christmas tree isn’t there? It brings a peace and comfort that cannot be rivaled.

As you light your tree or your mantel tonight, think about Jesus. The King is among us. What a beautiful gift.

My prayer today is this, Thank you Jesus. You are more than enough. Your glory reigns and your hope will will always be the victory.

Take some time to listen to this song. Hear the words and repeat. Celebrate that He is indeed among us!
